This happens all the time. All NATO countries rotate their fighter jets to Iceland at some interval. This has nothing to do with the Greenland situation.

    Okay, everyone's on edge, but:

    > * Swedish aircraft will be part of NATO's incident preparedness in Iceland for two months as part of air defense in the Arctic region.

    > * THE MISSION HAS BEEN PLANNED FOR A LONG TIME and is therefore NOT being carried out due to the tense situation surrounding Greenland.

    > * They don't want to disclose how many aircraft Sweden is sending.

It's sad that one mentally ill person is such a menace to the world that this has to happen. Though anthropologically it's pretty incredible to witness.

One plus all the evil opportunists around him.

Maybe Sauron was just some demented senior that the orcs used as an excuse to run amok.

Having different sites dedicated to different kinds of topics helps me partition my time and energy. Otherwise it would all go to the most emotionally salient content. I get that your current choice is to go all-in on the current political crisis in the U.S., but that isn't desirable or healthy for everybody. There are plenty of sites that can help you with that, and people who aren't well-served by that also need places to go. I use HN for professionally relevant content and tech-related diversions. I'll check in on politics elsewhere.

I don't think online engagement correlates much with political effectiveness, btw. Not that I think I'm more politically effective than the average person, but I know that being more engaged online doesn't make me more so.

I guess Voldemort topics tend to degrade into flamewars, which is why they eventually get flagged.

Personally I read enough about Voldemort in mainstream news, so I don't need such discussions here, but apparently many people do. I don't flag them - it would have been too much of a chore.

I value the comment section of this site greatly even (or maybe especially) for things that I already learned about on mainstream news or general social media

But at the same time keeping this site somewhat focused on tech is important too. It's a difficult balance
